The Way Forward

imgGoing forward, SAHELI envisions expanding its reach and deepening its impact to build safer, healthier, and more equitable communities for women and girls. The organization’s future priorities are centred on rights, resilience, and community-led change.

  • Expanding Outreach and Inclusion: Extending SAHELI’s programs to reach a larger number of women, girls, and marginalized communities across additional geographies.

  • Sexual and Reproductive Health as a Right: Ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, affirming these as fundamental rights for all women and adolescents.

  • Education Continuity and Safe Spaces for Girls: Expanding hostel facilities for girls and strengthening bridge school programmes to support school dropouts and enable their reintegration into formal education.

  • Elimination of Early and Child Marriages: Working towards a future with zero incidence of early and child marriages through sustained community vigilance, advocacy, and enforcement of legal protections.

  • Ensuring Zero Girl Child Dropouts: Promoting uninterrupted education for girls by addressing social, economic, and structural barriers to school attendance and retention.

  • Ending Gender-Based Violence: Striving for zero tolerance towards gender-based violence by strengthening prevention, response mechanisms, and survivor support systems.

  • Fostering Positive Community Responses to Gender Issues: Building informed, empathetic, and proactive community responses to gender concerns through collective ownership and participation.

  • Promoting Women’s Self-Reliance: Strengthening economic independence, leadership skills, and decision-making power of women to enable self-reliant livelihoods and lives.

  • Women-Led Responses to Gender Inequity: Enabling women to lead community-level responses to gender inequality and gender-based violence, reinforcing women’s leadership and agency.

  • Skill Development for Women and Girls: Expanding skill development and vocational training initiatives aligned with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

  • Access to Safe and Habitable Housing: Advocating for and facilitating access to safe, dignified, and habitable dwelling spaces for vulnerable families.

  • Improved Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Promoting improved WASH infrastructure and practices to ensure healthier living environments and enhanced dignity, especially for women and girls.
